Acts 2: Day of Pentacost

Describe the meaning of the day of Pentecost. List two or three of Peter’s teachings on this day. In what ways did Peter fulfill his role as a special witness of Jesus Christ? What gifts of the Spirit were made manifest on the day of Pentecost? How did the people respond to what occurred on this day? The day of Pentecost was a celebration of the harvest. It took place fifty days after the feast of Passover. Peter teaches the people about the coming of the Lord, he bears testimony of what is to take place when the Lord comes again. My favorite scripture in this passage is verse 21: “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” I think it’s so important to realize that we need to be so aware of the Lord and be willing to share and ecknowledge that the Lord loves us and wants what’s best for us eternally. Another teaching that Peter brought to the people was to repent and be baptized. When we repent and are baptized we take upon the name of Jesus Christ and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Peter was able to speak to the people and preach unto them the true testament of Christ. It was so amazing to me that the gift of tongues was given to the people and they were so susceptive of what was being taught to them. When Peter was preaching to the people they took his words and put them into effect, they gave up their worldly possessions, were baptized and forgiven of their sins. I loved that this scripture gives us such a look into the people of that day and how they would give such head to the prophets words. I think that we need to be more aware of what our Prophets are trying to preach because they are the mouth piece of the Lord.
